I grew up in rural Western Maryland in a destination community known as Deep Creek Lake. After graduating from high school in 1999, I moved to State College for the first time and enrolled as a Biology student at Penn State University.
After graduating from Penn State in 2003, I began my legal studies at the University of Pittsburgh. During my first summer of law school, I worked as a judicial clerk for the late District Court Judge Ralph Burnett in Garrett County, Maryland. From my second year of law school through graduation I worked with the law firm of Malone Middleman, P.C., just outside of Pittsburgh, in Wexford, Pennsylvania, as a law clerk.
Upon graduation, I relocated to South Florida and began my career as an attorney. I took up residence with my wife, Desiree, and Golden Retriever, Santino, in Delray Beach, Florida, about half way between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale.
For the first two and a half years as an attorney, I primarily practiced in insurance defense, defending a variety of types of cases including auto negligence, professional negligence and malpractice, premises and product liability, Workers’ Compensation, as well as handling a fair share of insurance coverage cases involving Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and casualty claims. It was during this time that I learned first hand how insurance companies operate in the best interests of their bottom line.
After realizing I had more passion for the people I was fighting and after gaining valuable litigation experience under superb attorneys, it was time for me to change the focus of my practice. I left my position and began representing injury victims.
After a year with a prominent Personal Injury firm in Boca Raton, Florida, I decided to fulfill a lifelong dream of going into business for myself. I started Peter J. Porcaro, P.A. and focused my practice on plaintiff’s Personal Injury as well as Criminal Defense. During my career as a solo practitioner in South Florida I handled hundreds of personal injury cases fighting for the interests of people injured in a variety of ways. The most common cases involved automobile accidents and falls. I developed a reputation as a fierce litigator and recovered millions of dollars on behalf of my clients.
Additionally, I represented criminal defendants charged with felonies and misdemeanors. The most common cases involved drugs and alcohol. As a criminal defense attorney, I cultivated relationships with the prosecuting attorneys and fought for my clients’ rights.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I look forward to working with you.
