Florida files your case in the county where the crash happened. A Broward injury case belongs in Broward courts, no matter where your lawyer sits. What matters is who fights for you, not whose sign is closest. Here’s what changes when your attorney works one county south, and what doesn’t:
Most injury firms hand your file to a case manager the day you sign. I don’t. You get me, Peter Porcaro, from the first phone call to the final signature.
I’m board-certified, a credential the Florida Bar awards to a small percentage of Florida lawyers. Before I represented injured people, I defended insurance companies. I watched how they evaluate a claim, lowball it, and stall it. Now I use that against them. Every case I take gets prepared for trial, because insurers pay what a case is worth only when they believe you’ll actually try it.
We take the cases other firms won’t: disputed fault, difficult liability, smaller-damage claims the big shops won’t touch. We take them, and we fight for every dollar.
Porcaro Law Group has recovered more than $15 million for injury clients across South Florida, including matters that started in Broward County. We don’t publish individual case summaries. The number is real, and it was earned case by case, mostly against insurance companies that opened low and hoped you’d take it.

I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Porcaro Law Group. From the moment I reached out, I felt like more than just a case number, they truly listened, cared, and made me feel supported during a really difficult time. After my accident, I was overwhelmed and unsure of what to do next. Their team walked me through everything with so much patience and compassion. They explained the legal process clearly, kept me informed at every step, and always made time for my questions, no matter how small. What stood out the most was how hard they fought for me. You could tell they genuinely wanted the best outcome, and I never felt like I was being rushed or pressured into anything. They were professional, but also down-to-earth and easy to talk to, which made a stressful situation so much easier to handle. I’m truly grateful for everything they did and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Porcaro Law Group to anyone who needs a personal injury attorney who actually cares and delivers results.Posted on Google![]()

Broward County logged 38,338 crashes and 23,115 injuries in 2024, according to the FLHSMV final crash report. Behind every one of those numbers is a person dealing with doctors, missed work, and an insurance adjuster working the phones. If that’s you, four things will shape your case: where it’s filed, how long you have to file, how fault gets divided, and what your own insurance covers first.
Broward County injury lawsuits are heard in the 17th Judicial Circuit, based at the Broward County Courthouse at 201 SE 6th St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. From our Delray Beach office, that’s about 30 minutes up I-95. I’ve spent years in South Florida courtrooms, and I prepare every Broward case the way I prepare a Palm Beach case: documents gathered, witnesses lined up, experts retained, and the file ready for a jury long before the defense expects it.
Florida gives you two years from the date of your injury to file a personal injury lawsuit. The deadline comes from Florida Statute §95.11, and when it passes, the claim is gone, no matter how strong the case was. Evidence fades faster than the clock runs: skid marks get repaved, witnesses move, camera footage gets deleted on a 30-day cycle. Two years is the hard outer limit. The practical window is much shorter. If you were hurt in Broward, call me and we’ll look at your dates together.
Under Florida Statute §768.81, you can recover damages as long as you’re not more than 50% at fault, and your recovery drops by your share of the blame. Found 20% at fault on a $100,000 claim? You recover $80,000. Cross 51% and you recover nothing.
That’s why the insurance fight in Broward crashes is almost always a fight over percentages. The adjuster’s job is to shift just enough fault onto you to shrink the check, or push you past 51% and kill the claim entirely. I was an insurance defense attorney. I know the playbook, and I don’t bluff.
Florida is a no-fault state. Your own Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage pays up to $10,000 of your initial medical bills and lost wages, regardless of who caused the crash. Two rules matter:
PIP is the first layer, not the last. When your injuries exceed what PIP covers, and serious ones usually do, the claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance is where the real recovery happens. That’s the fight I take on for you.
Broward County’s 38,338 crashes in 2024 didn’t happen at random. They cluster where the county’s traffic lives: I-95, Florida’s Turnpike, the Sawgrass Expressway, and the surface streets that feed them. Whatever kind of crash you were in, the pattern underneath is the same: an insurer looking for a reason to pay less. We take the cases other firms won’t.
High-speed crashes on I-95, the Turnpike, and the Sawgrass produce the most serious injuries in Broward County, and they draw the most aggressive insurance defenses. Speed raises the stakes, and the fault fight gets harder, not easier. If your crash happened on one of these corridors, what you do in the first days matters, and I handle car crash cases across South Florida.
A person on foot or on a bike has no protection in a collision, so pedestrian and bicycle crashes in Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, and Pompano Beach cause the worst injuries we see. The insurer’s script rarely changes: the driver claims you came out of nowhere. Evidence decides these cases, and I build them on evidence.
Riders get blamed for crashes they didn’t cause. The bias shows up immediately: the insurer assumes you were speeding before anyone checks the skid marks or the data. That’s a 51% fault fight, and it’s the fight I prepare hardest. More on motorcycle crash cases →
Delivery trucks, box trucks, and Uber/Lyft vehicles run I-95 and the Sawgrass all day, and crashes with them mean corporate insurers and layered coverage. Roughly 4,500 of Broward’s 2024 crashes involved commercial vehicles, per the FLHSMV final report. These cases need someone who reads the whole policy stack, not just the police report.
When the driver leaves, your recovery usually comes from your own uninsured motorist coverage, and your own insurer fights that claim nearly as hard as the at-fault driver’s would. UM carriers raise the same objections every time. I know those objections because I used to make them for a living.
Malls, grocery stores, hotels, and rentals across Fort Lauderdale, Coral Springs, and Plantation owe visitors a safe premises. Proving the business knew about the hazard is the hard part, and it’s where these cases are won or lost. Premises cases →
Broward Health Medical Center (Fort Lauderdale), Broward Health North (Pompano Beach), Broward Health Coral Springs, Memorial Regional Hospital (Hollywood), and Holy Cross Health (Fort Lauderdale) all run 24-hour emergency rooms. One rule applies no matter which door you come through: PIP requires treatment within 14 days of the crash or your benefits can be denied. Get seen, keep every record, then call me.
We’ve recovered more than $15 million for injury clients across South Florida, Broward County included. These recoveries came from car crashes, premises cases, and the disputed-fault files other firms declined. I don’t advertise the biggest number I can find. I keep the files, and the files back the total.

Nothing up front, and nothing at all unless we recover money for you. Porcaro Law Group works on contingency: the fee comes out of the recovery, the consultation is free, and if there’s no recovery you owe no attorney’s fee. You risk a phone call, not your bank account.
Two years from the date of the injury, under Florida Statute §95.11. Miss that deadline and the claim is gone, no matter how strong it was. Some claims carry shorter notice requirements, so call early and let me check your dates before the clock decides for you.
Yes, if you’re not more than 50% at fault. Under Florida’s modified comparative negligence rule, your recovery is reduced by your percentage of fault. Being 20% at fault doesn’t end your case; it reduces the check. Insurers push fault numbers because the numbers move money.
No. Your free consultation happens by phone, by video, or in person, whichever works for you. We’ll figure out the easiest way to get you help, including virtual consultations. If you’d rather meet face to face, Deerfield Beach is about 10–15 minutes from the office, and most of a case moves by phone and email anyway.
See a doctor within 14 days. That’s the PIP requirement under §627.736, and missing it can cost you your $10,000 in benefits. Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale runs a 24-hour ER, and so do the other Broward hospitals listed above. Get evaluated, keep every record, then call me.
Disputed liability, difficult fault fights, and smaller-damage cases that don’t interest high-volume firms. I take them because I prepare every case trial-ready, and preparation is what makes a small case worth fighting. If another firm told you no, call me and you’ll get a straight answer.
The call costs nothing, and the advice is yours to keep.
Contacting Porcaro Injury Law does not create an attorney-client relationship. That relationship is formed only through a signed written retainer agreement.
