If you were hurt in downtown Delray Beach, the insurance company already has adjusters working your claim. Florida gives you two years to file, and just 14 days to protect your PIP benefits if a car was involved. I’m Peter Porcaro, and I work on contingency — no fee unless we win.

I spent my first years out of law school defending insurance companies. I learned exactly how they value claims, how they stall, and how they hope you’ll give up. Now I use that knowledge against them. I earned my B.S. in Biology from Penn State in 2003 and my J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2006. I’m licensed in Florida (Bar #31147) and Pennsylvania, and I’m board-certified in civil trial law — a credential the Florida Bar awards to a small percentage of Florida lawyers.
When you hire me, you get me — not a case manager. You call, I answer. That’s the deal, and it doesn’t change after you sign. You can also meet the team →

My office sits at 401 Linton Blvd, about a mile south of Atlantic Avenue. I don’t have a satellite office on the Ave. What I have is an office minutes from downtown, free parking, and a phone I answer around the clock. I handle cases for people who live and work in the Historic Core, dine on the Atlantic Avenue restaurant corridor, walk the Pineapple Grove Arts District, and catch shows at Old School Square. I know the intersections around Swinton Avenue and the FEC rail crossings, and I’ve represented clients hurt during the Delray Affair — the 64th annual festival brought more than 600 artists and vendors to Atlantic Avenue, free and open to everyone. Atlantic Avenue runs east to A1A and the beach, and every block in between is walkable, drivable, and, unfortunately, full of places where careless drivers and negligent property owners hurt people.
Palm Beach County recorded 26,550 crashes, 207 deaths, and 16,564 injuries in 2024. Those numbers include the streets you cross every day downtown, not just the highways.
Atlantic Avenue carries beach traffic, delivery trucks, rideshares, and thousands of pedestrians past dozens of restaurants and bars. The crosswalks along the restaurant corridor stay busy from brunch through last call. Drivers turning off Federal Highway or out of parking lots look for a gap in traffic, not for a person in the crosswalk. I’ve handled cases where a driver “never saw” someone crossing in broad daylight. In Florida, a driver who hits a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk rarely has a good defense, but you still need someone to prove it and make the insurer pay. Pedestrians and cyclists show up in those county numbers too: 807 pedestrian crashes, 61 pedestrian deaths, and 724 bicycle crashes in 2024.
US-1 slices through downtown with steady through-traffic, frequent turns, and drivers gunning it to beat the light. Rear-end crashes at red lights, side-impacts at left turns, and pedestrian strikes near mid-block crossings are the pattern here. Speeds run higher than on the side streets, so injuries are worse — and the insurers know it, which is why their first offer on a US-1 crash is rarely their best.
Pineapple Grove’s galleries and cafes, the Old School Square events lawn, and street festivals like the Delray Affair pack pedestrians into spaces designed for foot traffic, not cars. Parking garages fill up, drivers circle for spots, and delivery vehicles double-park. Crowded sidewalks push people into the roadway. Slip-and-fall hazards spike too — wet tile near bar entrances, uneven brick, poor lighting after an event lets out. Property owners downtown owe you a safe walk, and when they don’t maintain their premises, they’re responsible for what happens.
Swinton Avenue runs north-south through the historic district, and the Florida East Coast Railway’s crossings cut across local traffic with freight trains on a schedule. Drivers rush the gates, stop on the tracks in backed-up traffic, or misjudge a crossing. Collisions at rail crossings and the intersections around them tend to be severe. If a crash like this left you hurt, the railroad’s cameras, the train’s event recorder, and witness statements all fade fast — another reason to call before evidence disappears.
Delray Medical Center is at 5352 Linton Blvd, with a 24-hour emergency room. It’s less than two miles from my office and minutes from downtown. If you’ve been hurt, go. If you’re not sure how serious it is, go anyway — let the doctors decide.
Florida’s PIP law (§627.736) remains fully in force, and it sets a hard clock: treatment within 14 days of the crash protects up to $10,000 in benefits. Miss that window and the insurer has a reason to deny everything. Here’s the trap — adrenaline hides injuries. People walk away from a crash feeling “shaken but fine,” then wake up three days later with a neck they can’t turn. By day 15, their PIP claim is gone. Repeal bills have been proposed — the most recent died in committee in 2025 — and nothing has changed yet. So the rule stands: get seen within 14 days, even if you feel okay. When you hire me, I advance all the costs of your case — medical records, experts, filing fees. You focus on healing; I’ll handle the bill.
If your case goes to court, it gets filed at the South County Courthouse at 200 W Atlantic Ave — a satellite of the 15th Judicial Circuit, four blocks from the Ave. I’ve stood in that building hundreds of times. You shouldn’t have to. My job is to put your case in front of a judge there while you stay home and heal.
Florida law gives you two years from the date of injury to file a personal injury lawsuit. Miss it and your case is over — no exceptions for how badly you were hurt. The PIP clock is even shorter: 14 days for treatment. But don’t build your plan around either deadline. Physical evidence fades faster than the law’s clock does. Skid marks get repaved, cameras overwrite footage in weeks, witnesses change numbers and forget details. The deadline tells you the last day to act. It doesn’t tell you the best day. The best day was yesterday. The second best is today.
Most people have never hired a lawyer before a crash. So they don’t know what to expect. If you’re at the scene of a wreck right now, start with what to do after a car accident, then read how the rest of this goes.
My fee agreement fits in a paragraph. I take a percentage of what I recover for you — typically 33.3% if we settle before a lawsuit is filed, 40% if we take the case to trial. If we lose, you owe me nothing. Not for my time, not for the filing fees, not for the experts. I advance every cost of building your case and eat them if we don’t win. You will never get a bill from my firm. The only way I get paid is if you do.
Palm Beach County recorded 4,705 hit-and-run crashes in 2024. If the driver who hit you drove off, you still have a case — a different one. Your own uninsured motorist coverage, if you carry it, steps in where the missing driver’s insurance should have. That claim is against your own insurer, and they fight it almost as hard as the at-fault driver’s would. I know how to press it.
I can’t give you a number on this page, and anyone who promises one before seeing your medical records is guessing. What I can tell you is what drives the value: the severity of your injury, the cost of your treatment, the wages you lost, and how the injury changes your daily life. A case with a clean liability picture and documented treatment is worth more than the same injury with gaps in care. A real range comes into focus after I review your records, your bills, and the insurance policies involved. That review costs you nothing, and it’s the only responsible way to answer this question.
Adjusters won’t tell you this: under Florida’s comparative fault law (§768.81), you can recover money even if you were partly to blame for the crash. Your recovery is reduced by your percentage of fault, and you’re only barred completely if you’re 51% or more at fault. So if you were 20% responsible, you still collect 80% of your damages. The problem is that adjusters inflate your share of blame on purpose, because every percentage point they shift onto you is money off their check. I don’t bluff, and I don’t let them get away with it either. If you’ve already made mistakes that hurt your claim, call me anyway — most of them can be worked around if we move fast.
Getting to my office is simple. Take I-95 to the Linton Blvd exit and head east, or come down Atlantic Avenue or Linton Blvd from downtown — I’m minutes away either way, with free parking at the building. No meters, no garages, no circling the block.

Peter and staff were concerned with my case but early on more concerned with making sure I had proper medical care and made recommendations with the best physicians. They were in contact with me on a regular basis which made the entire process smooth. In the end my settlement was much better than I could have ever expected. I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Porcaro Law Group. From the moment I reached out, I felt like more than just a case number, they truly listened, cared, and made me feel supported during a really difficult time. After my accident, I was overwhelmed and unsure of what to do next. Their team walked me through everything with so much patience and compassion. They explained the legal process clearly, kept me informed at every step, and always made time for my questions, no matter how small. What stood out the most was how hard they fought for me. You could tell they genuinely wanted the best outcome, and I never felt like I was being rushed or pressured into anything. They were professional, but also down-to-earth and easy to talk to, which made a stressful situation so much easier to handle. I’m truly grateful for everything they did and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Porcaro Law Group to anyone who needs a personal injury attorney who actually cares and delivers results.Posted on Google![]()

It depends on your medical treatment, lost wages, and how the injury affects your life. Cases range from thousands to well over a million dollars — my results include recoveries from $210,000 to $1.8 million. A free case review with me is the only way to get a range for your specific case.
Two years from the date of your injury, under Florida law. Miss that deadline and you lose your right to sue entirely. If a car was involved, you also have just 14 days to get medical treatment to protect your PIP benefits. Call (561) 450-9355 before either clock runs out.
Call 911, get medical treatment within 14 days, photograph the scene and your injuries, get the other driver’s insurance information, and don’t give a recorded statement to any insurer. Then call (561) 450-9355. Early mistakes are the ones adjusters use against you later.
If your injuries are truly minor and fully resolved, you may handle a small PIP claim yourself. But “minor” crashes often turn into herniated discs and lasting pain weeks later. A consultation costs nothing, and I only get paid if you recover — so there’s no risk in asking.
You still have options. Your uninsured motorist coverage can pay your damages even when the at-fault driver can’t. Florida recorded 4,705 hit-and-run crashes in Palm Beach County in 2024, so this happens every day. I handle UM claims against your own insurer and know exactly how they defend them.
Go to the emergency department at Boca Raton Regional Hospital (Baptist Health), 800 Meadows Road, or West Boca Medical Center, 21644 State Road 7, which runs two emergency rooms. Then follow up with your primary doctor or a specialist within days. The 14-day PIP window starts at the crash, not when the pain gets loud. Consistent treatment records are the backbone of your claim. Gaps in care cost real money.
Car crashes are the biggest share of my caseload, but not the only one. I represent people hurt in every way negligence can cause, throughout downtown Delray Beach and beyond.
